Hidden Science is sometimes called The Perennial Philosophy; it is the traditional teachings of all ancient cultures based on the recognition of the unity of all things. In the East this concept is symbolised by the Yin and Yang, in the West by the Hermetic dictum 'As above, so below', or the Christian 'Do as you would be done by'. At its simplest this means any increased control over yourself will give you greater control over your environment.
Hidden Science implies the law of cause and effect. Whatever action you take, including thinking, has an effect, which becomes the cause of something else. The assumption of responsibility for what is happening in your life, whether you like it or not, is your ticket to freedom. You may not control events, but you do control how you respond.
In the distant past this was common knowledge and allowed people to develop a relationship with the natural world that is regarded still by many today as superstition. In fact, it is clear from the increasing use of traditional plants as the basis for modern drugs, that our ancestors had an extraordinarily sophisticated and practical understanding of nature and their place in it.
In Hawaii the old ways lingered and recent years have seen something of a revival of their ancient teachings, known as Huna, which means secret. When the missionaries arrived in 1820 mental illness was unknown on the island, but with the suppression of the ancient ways, lethal new diseases and alcohol abuse, the Kahunas, the equivalent of shamen, almost died out and the people's problems multiplied.
In 1920 Max Freedom Long arrived on Big Island in Hawaii as a school teacher and became intrigued by the mysterious healings he witnessed and stories of great deeds he heard about. He had studied psychology and was convinced that the Kahunas had an understanding of the unconscious mind, recently 'discovered' by Freud. After many years of trying to penetrate the secrets of Huna, he gave up and returned to America.
Max was lying in bed back home one night when he had a sudden insight; what if the clue he was looking for was hidden in the language? Having made endless notes during his 10 years in Hawaii, he set to work straight away. Immediately this new approach bore fruit and he unravelled the concept of the 3 minds, and the techniques by which the Kahunas performed their magic.

The 3 minds are:
-
The conscious mind; which is your everyday sense of yourself.
- The unconscious mind; which stores your memories, controls your emotions and runs your body.
- The higher conscious mind or higher self; which is the infinite part of each person that can do anything.
There is an interesting caveat to this, the higher self must be invited, it cannot interfere with the free will of the conscious mind. This was the original purpose of prayer and all spiritual practice.

In the old days this information was freely available, but then around 1500BC there began a shift towards patriarchy and the information went underground to be revealed only to initiates. Although these teachings are at the heart of all religions, which is why people respond to them, over millennia secrecy has distorted the organisations that used this knowledge to create power structures and amass wealth, rather than help and heal the poor and dispossessed. These are man made structures.
